Work Process

Quarrying:

From the many stones extracted in the northern mountainous areas of Vietnam, those with beautiful colors and shapes and have no cracks are selected by craftspersons.

Cutting:
Selected stones are measured then carefully cut by two craftspersons to form the initial figure.

Grinding:
Using a grinding machine, the corners of the stones are shaved off to make them round.

Sketching:
Forms and patterns are drawn using a pen.

Carving:
Based on the sketch, the stone’s surface is carved out a small portion at a time using a chisel. This is an important work to ensure quality.

Polishing:
Newly carved products are soaked in water then polished with various files until the surface becomes smooth and a beautiful pattern appears.

Finishing:
With natural drying stone carvings regain their original color and shine. Since only natural and available materials are used, stone products may differ in size and color.

Care for Products

Stone carvings are fragile; scratching and dropping them should be avoided. Wipe them lightly with a well-wrung cloth dipped in lukewarm water or gentle detergent. Do not use any abrasive materials.
